Issue 3: Looking for Projects .

Roto-Product Designer Seeking New Projects

Here we go again, the thing most designers hate. I'm running out of projects. It’s been a good year but things are slowing down.

I’ve just finished several challenging projects with critical aesthetics that had to be juggled to get the desired features and function.  It was a true balancing act.

The most recent was a Catamaran boat cooler. The aesthetic objective was to make it look as close as possible to a CAT boat as possible. The detailing of the lid was key to the appearance of the boat.  The lid had to be thin to replicate the CAT boats, have enough room to fill, allow for foaming and accommodate the well areas. It’s impossible to make a cooler that you can pick up and put in a trunk, as far as length, while maintaining the aspect ratio to fit a 12-pack plus ice in the well.  This is what I came up with….

I'm looking for the next challenge. Can you help?  I can be reached via e-mail at gstout@blue-reed.com

About My Software.
As a struggling designer, my budget was limited. Trying to get up and running fast, I talked to several people about modeling software. SolidWorks came up quite a bit due to the price and being so user friendly.  A lot of people are migrating from more expensive software such as SDRC and Pro-E because of it’s functionality and comparitive low price.  I’ve been using SolidWorks for just over a year, really like it and recommend it. SolidWorks is constantly adding improvements recommended by the user.  In the past 9 months, I’ve received 6 such updates.

Temporary Mold Technology

I am pleased to present a new mold technology developed by Yogesh Vakharia.

Yogesh has spent the last several years developing temporary mold technologies. His developments have come a long way since he first introduced this technology. The molds that he can produce today yield up to 100 shots. Following are some of the features:

  • More stable and take sharp details

  • Have an aluminum finish/textures

  • Can include inserts

  • Can be used to make XLPE/HDPE/PVC parts

For additional information, please contact Yogesh at (319) 358 7456 or e-mail ymvakharia@mchsi.com.

Julie Seeking Web Design Work…

Over the last two years, I’ve really developed my web design skills. I am particularly talented at giving 1st generation websites a modern-day facelift while turning the website into a lead-generator for my clients. I’m in the process of finishing three websites and will be looking for new websites to makeover. I would love the opportunity to work with you!

I can be reached via e-mail at stoutmarketing@earthlink.net
